Features
- Polyethylene is excellent material for the use in the manufacture of fan silencers as it is non corrosive, flexible and provides ready inbuilt noise absorption.
- Available in high visibility yellow.
- Durable and impact resistant.
- Polyethylene silencers are extremely light weight and have a decided weight advantage over current silencers available making installation and removal a much easier task to perform.
- Another advantage is that the overall diameter of the fan assembly has not been increased by the silencer.
By using high tech sound foam and sound barrier, we are able to maintain an overall width of < 50mm, compared to conventional Rock Wall type (overall > 120mm). This means that the silencer O.D. does not exceed the fan flange.
- Low Maintenance By using Closed Cell Foam and protective coating, we are able to produce a silencer which is impervious to moisture and dust, resulting in little or no maintenance.
- Silencers can be bolted end to end when mounting a fan in a restricted area such as a vent access wall.

Construction
- H.D.P.E. Polyethylene Sheeting is used for the inner and outer casings with the inner cylinder strategically punched out to assist the performance of the noise barrier.
- The casing end flanges are constructed from 20mm H.D.P.E. and formed to fit any fan on request, then bolted together sandwiching the existing steel flange on the fan.
- Silencers are bolted through the existing P.C.D's on the steel flange to the flange on the end of the silencer for added support.
- The length of all silencers are generally built to 1.5 x the diameter of the fan to maximise the level of noise reduction. However, shorter versions are available for constricted areas.
- Available with detachable polyethylene bell or bag cone ends.

Self Regulating Fan Covers
A simple configuration that bolts to the fan flange and automatically opens or closes with air flow from the fan. |

Silencer Test Results
Fan type tested: Twin 45 kW Howden
Silencer length: 1.8m each
Overall fan length: 4.9m (incl. intake/exhaust cones)
Silencer weight: Approx. 105kg (including bell and cone end fittings)
Average db(a) rating of fan unsilenced: 105.2db(a) at 1 metre (including line of sight at intake and exhaust)
Average db(a) rating silenced at 1 metre: 88.9 db(a) average (at 1 metre the reflective influences were negligible)
Average at 3 metres:
There was a significant reduction at 3 metres in the high 70 db(a).
The amount reduced would be even greater in a free field condition whereas the actual test conditions included significant reflective surfaces (e.g. factory wall and plant machinery)
Noise level average reduction at 1 metre:
16.3 db(a) average decrease at 1 metre (inclusive of line of sight at intake and exhaust)
